Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond
You have the power to save wildlife and inspire everyone to make conservation a priority in their lives with a charitable contribution in your will or estate plans.
Your charitable bequest, a gift that will be made through your will or trust, is a way for you to help the mission of Woodland Park Zoo while preserving the flexibility to make changes if your circumstances require.
You can give specific property or designate a dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. You can also designate Woodland Park Zoo as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy.
Making a bequest is a way of demonstrating your commitment to the future and doesn’t affect your current asset balance or cash flow. There are no substantial costs, and the gift can easily be modified to address your changing needs.
The following language may help you and your attorney when drawing up a bequest that meets your needs.
“I give to Woodland Park Zoological Society (DBA Woodland Park Zoo), 5500 Phinney Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98103, a Washington nonprofit corporation or its successor, Federal Tax Identification Number: 91-6070005, * [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose."
You have important priorities for your family and loved ones, and we know that they come first. Our planned giving officer can discuss an estate gift as well as other tax-smart ways to adapt your charitable giving and accommodate your changing financial situation. When you are ready, we will be here to help you shape a charitable gift plan that suits your needs and allows you to continue helping us save wildlife and wild places locally and globally.
